Just say you don't have a cell phone. It's too easy for a cell phone to become a pager (something I have sworn never to wear for the past 20 years).

I also was asked to give my cell phone number 'in case of an emergency", even though my line of business doesn't really HAVE emergencies.
They didn't offer me the standard $30 - $60 that managers with a NEED for a cell phone got.
So I went to the file where our phone bill was and wrote down one of the company's secondary line #'s as mine on the list!!!
Can't wait for them to try and reach me, and have their own phone ring...

No. But you should leave your cell phone in your car or turned off while at work. You can check it during your break or at lunch. If someone needs to contact you during an emergency give them the company number.

you don't have to-some people don't even have cells so your company can't required cel phone numbers. Your cell phone is for your private use and not so that your company will have a hold on you. Giving out your number is at your discretion.

I wouldn't think so. Have they told you you have to give them your cell number? I wouldn't do it either. If they want you to carry a work cell phone then they should provide you with one and pay you every time you answer it (unless you are a salaried employee and then I guess they wouldn't have to do that)...anyway.....no, if it's your personal cell then you should not be required to give your employer, co-workers, or clients your number.

Of course you don't have to provide your private cell phone number at work. You have to provide them with an emergency contact number. That's it.

Absolutely not. If you are paying for it and the company is not willing to provide you with one then it not appropriate for anyone to use to call you for work purposes.

I strongly disagree with all those businesses and does no longer enable them to swindle me. it particularly is barely like that lottery scheme that is going on and that they arrive by your email soliciating human beings and in case you don't understand extra effective they gottcha. until eventually now agreeing to something verify it out first or wait a jointly as until eventually now figuring out or ask around. it particularly is the substantial to victory to sucess.

if it belongs to you and you are paying the bill no one and no company has any right to it unless they offer to pay the bill. then you have the option of saying no.

No, you decide when you use it and who can have the number, because you pay the bill.
