It slightly pinches for about a second, and then slightly burns after that. I am going to say no it does not--I have had each lobe pierced 5 times each & my left cartialage pierced. (The cartilage piercing hurts and since cartilage never stops growing & is always alive it hurt on & off for about a year.) I also gauged out my bottom holes on my lobes as a friendship thing with my best friend...not too big, just a 6 gauge. That hurts a wee little more than the initial piercing, but nothing I wouldn't do again. If you would like to see pictures of the piercings lemme know...I will email you with a couple.

i can relate to this story. i was scared to death about getting my ears peirced. I am 26 and only got them pierced when I turned 17 and got into college. I don;t know why, but all of a sudden one day I was really for it. I went into a Claire's, earring place at the mall, and they mark with a sharpie where the holes will go and you can ok it or ask them to mark somewhere else. You (or she) will feel the sting and hard pressure. My ears started throbbing and feeling tingly and like they were burning. My eyes watered a little but once you see the cute little studs you feel better. The pain for me didn't come until days after when you have to twist the studs and put the cold solution on your ears. But promise to buy her cute earrings after she gets them pierced!! Good luck!

I got my ears pierced so many years ago I can't remember either. I have three daughters and a niece that all went to get there ears pierced together. All of them except for the baby were scared because they thought it would hurt. I bought cream at the drug store to numb their ears though and they didn't feel anything! Only my oldest and the baby got it done though, the others were still too scared. They were also mad that I didn't get theirs done when they were babies. LOL

It depends on ones own pain tolerance. If your friend doesn't have much then it might to her. My mother-in-law taught me a neat trick when she took my second daughter to get hers done and you should tell your friend about this. Before your friend gets hers done have her or someone she knows (you perhaps) rub her earlobes for at least 3-4 minutes. This makes them numb! So when it's time for the piercing she shouldn't feel much if at all!
If anything is "scarey" about getting ones ears pierced it's the noise of it being done. My first piercing was done with a plastic U shaped piercing tool. My second ones where done with a piercing gun. They all make a "popping" noise for you mgiht want to fair warn her of the noise.
Good luck and let us know how she did!

It hurts a little bit, but it is the sound of the needle going through the ear lobe that is worse! The piercings will be sore for a few days until they heal.

well tell her that you will feel this. a hard pinch. it will sting and feel very hot right after you get it done. then after about 5 minutes it will go away. it's a werid feeling cuz you can feel it going through your lobe. but it really doesn't hurt that much. on a scale of 1 to 10 it hurts about a 5 and a half. i think she should get it done! but tell her to keep them clean!

The salon will probably spray on a topical anesthetic that will numb the ear lobe before they pierce, so it shouldn't hurt, only feel like a bit of pressure.
