what should i pick a lock with?

first of all i am not a peeping tom! my bedroom door islocked and i need to get in! the lock is round but you can see all the way through like with some locks. what is the best thing to use for this that i woud have around the house? the lock is just round like any bedroom lock.
-please help!

Just about all the answers you received before should work if you have the round modern bedroom lock. You say you can see though the lock like some of the older door locks, in this case you would have what would amount to a modern deadbolt lock-you would need a key of some kind. These are very simple locks and easy to pick with keys made from metal coat hangers cut to length and a short bend on the end. If you have another door with the same type of lock that key might work.

There is probably a hole in the outside knob. Privacy locks usually come with a small key-like apparatus that can be used in case of emergency. When installing locks, I usually put the lock picker on top of the door casing. Most people throw it away, but check there anyway, you might get lucky. Otherwise a precision screwdriver will work.

Try taking a credit card and pressing on the latch of the lock that is sticking into the strike plate on the door jamb. You should be able to wiggle the card so that the latch is pushed all the way back. Then just push the door open.

try a pin(hair pin), a small skrew driver, of slide a butter knife down the side of the door and turn the handle to try and open the lock.. if that does not word ... call a locksmith.

Don't know about the UK, but in the US it is illegal to be in possession of lock pick sets.

a hanger -bend it out straight and in the lil hole or use a knife in the door jam...and push!!!!!!..great tools...hope this helps

Get a super small screwdriver(if you have one) and stick it in the hole and turn it.
