Anyone know of a good place to buy a real tree? I'm in Southeastern Michigan and can't find a decent place to cut down my own. I don't like those little places that sell precut trees but I don't want to spend $75 for a friggin tree. Ughhhhh

I don't know if this will be any less expensive than you have experienced, but try the www.michigan.gov - Department of Agriculture site for fresh and fragrant Michigan Christmas Trees and wreaths and roping.

You might check some local nurseries to see if they have any decent size live evergreen trees for planting, with the root ball wrapped in burlap. It might be a little less expensive if you got a smaller, like 4' tree and you would be able to plant outside after the holidays. The smell would be fresher and the money would not be a waste. A friend of mine bought a 4' Norfolk Island Pine for Christmas years ago....it wasn't a very full tree of course but looked nice once decorated and 20 years later it was in the back yard about 40' tall.

I'm in PA, so I don't know where to direct you, but when you get to the tree farm, ask if they have a Concolor Fir tree. It has sturdy branches, but soft needles. and the smell is a strong tangerine---mmmmm.
