I have seen a bright star in the sky that remains stationary, to the south, that flashes red and green, I believe it is either a satelite or a space station, its very bright. I could be wrong ?

The star is Albireo, in the constellation Cygnus , the Swan.Albireo is a double star who's components can be easily resolved by the smallest of telescopes, or in fact, common binoculars.
