Kamal Hassen is one of the best actors in India.
Dutt is good, but Hassen is in a class way above Dutt, so Hassen cannot be compared to Dutt.
Hassen is the only actor to have won 4 Indian Film National Awards for his acting skills in India.
Dutt as of now, 2006, hasnot even won any.
North Indians who watch hindhi movies only know about it, they don't even know anything about the other actors from the south and elsewhere.
Unfortunately, those talented actors aren't known because they are part of a regional language movie Industry which is basically unknown to the person who doesn't speak the regional language.
Tamil film Industry is the only one with some attention from non-Tamilians.
So, just imagine how many actors from other regional films are there who are exceptionally talented, even more than their hindhi counter parts and aren't even noticed.
I am a huge film critic, and I think Hassen is better than Bachan, and many people who have compared and contrasted the two will certainly agree.
So, in that case how can he be compared to Dutt?
some interesting facts about Hassen:
Kamal Haasen has won a total of 171 awards which is more than any other actor in the world living or dead.
'Nayakan', the film w/ Hassen in the lead, he also won the Indian National Award for Best Actor, was rated by Time Magazine and was put in their list of the ''all time 100 best films".
now i found this user, Fahad, say this:
''Sanjay Dutt becoz Kamal Hassan has not done too many hindi films''
well bro, a person doesnot become a better actor because he/she has acted in a certain language.
As I said earlier, there is a world beyond hindhi cinema in the Indian film industry.
A new organization called International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) was established, and they always, every single time, awards hindhi movies.
Why don't they just change their name to International Hindhi FA?
North Indians just care about hindhi films and they see India as just Hindhi. Thats a major problem.
The rest are just ignored!

He is a 3-4 times Barath award winner.
He has all the talents ,
His upcoming movie Dasavathaaram ,he"s doing ten roles ,no other actor now is like him.
Not Even Amitha nor Rajini .
Kamalhaasan is Kamalhaasan the one and only classical actor of India.

Kamal Hassan can dance better than Sanjay Dutt, but as far the acting goes none of them is Dilip Kumar, Amitabh, Raj Kapur, or even Sanjv Kumar, Nana Patekar, Nasruddin Shah though you may compare them on the merits of their extra- marital affairs. I think Kamal Hassan gets more points.

definitely kamalhasan! he's a complete actor in positive or comic role! did you know that Amitabh Bachan once said that kamalhaasan was a much better actor than him but did'nt get chance in bollywood like him! by the way, he is very famous in the south!!!!!!!! actually you cant compare! while kamalhaasan is three times winner of national award and the one of the best actor to do movies in different languages, sanjay dutt is just a common bollywood actor!

both are great actors at their places and there are some roles played by both which are milestones in film industry. but on the basis of roles played by sanjay dutt inspite of his controversial life is surely amazing and one have to accept that sanjay dutt and salman khan are the heroes who have overcome from various problems to live roles like munna bhai or tere naam respectively.

Sanjay Dutt of course, cuz he could act his way out of jail!!! But I guess his acting isn't good enough cuz he's now back in Jail. Seriously, Kamal Hassan has a lot of talent, singing, dancing, and acting all rolled into one pint-size package.
