hi...I just went for the first time a couple of months ago. I stayed at the Tropicana. It is south but I liked it. It was a little dated but very clean. And I got an upgraded room for less than $50 a night. I saved even more on checkout with my comps which they doubled (and I was no high roller by any means). We liked hanging out at NYNY. The Fulton Street fish is the best deal and you get lots of food. We ate there 4 times! I wouldn't mind staying a little farther north like Paris or Aladdin but I would stay at the Trop anytime too.
I also thought the Aladdin buffet was overpriced for the offerings, at least at lunch time. Though the meat station is great with that skewered chicken and lamb. But all the other stations were weenie in my opinion. Ok, the dessert station was good too.

I Love Vegas!!!! Just got back, stayed at the Venetian. They have the Blue Man Group and the Phantom of the Opera, both excellent shows. We actually spent alot of time in the hotel. It was really nice. Also stayed at T.I., Luxor, Rio and the Residence Inn in the past. They were all nice. My next trip, I would like to stay at Caesars or the Aladdin. It is amazing how gorgeous these hotels are. Bellagio is beautiful, but is a bit too pricey for us. You will have a blast, and be amazed by how it has changed. Good Luck!!

I Love staying at the Monte Carlo - It is a big hotel right on the strip and is close by to many of the other large casino/resorts. it is a lot cheaper than some of its neighbors. It is a great location and has an amazing pool area, some shopping, a food court, a buffet, several good restaurants. If money isn't an issue stay at Bellagio - you won't be sorry, it is the crown jewel of vegas.

OH YA! I stayed the first time at Imperial Palace but I did not like it. It is way to crowded and small plus ventelation is not good at all even if you are in the casino for 2 seconds you come out smelling like cigarette. THe Karaoke place outside is really fun though. The last times I have gone I have stayed at the most romantic hotel in Vegas "PARIS" it is so amazingly nice even though it doesn't have all the shops and things that Bellagio, Ceasars Palace, Mirage & Venetian have but that is probably the best part of it because it is so easy to get to and out of your rooms fast. I have not been to any shows just the street shows which are really fun. We just kind of walk up and down the whole strip drinking and having fun. I know there is so much to do but I enjoy walking the strip specially because it is just my husband and I that go so it's like a honeymoon to us! ENJOY YOURSELF YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY TO HAVE FUN! But if you want to go to show plan ahead and buy online because once you are there it gets pretty crazy

If you aren't worried about price stay at the Bellagio, Venetian, or Caesar's Palace. I would say they are by far the best in terms of services and also things to do in and of themselves. If you are looking for a little cheaper look at Luxor or Excalibur. And if you want rock bottom try Flamingo or the Imperial Palace, they aren't nearly as nice but are still on the strip.
If possible make as many of your nights that you are staying there mon-thur, the rates are cheaper.
If I were you I would go with Caesar's.

Boy, some people really need to get out here and not ask for "help" ...
Wow...
Vegas changes its colors about once every 5 years.
It is more diverse than when you were here, so there is no real good answer to your question without some background.
Where do you stay? depends on your budget. People who stay at the troicana for $59 can have just a good time, although different, than one who spends $450 at the Four Seasons.
There are things that one would do that the other would never think of or consider.
So, what are your taste$ and ask from there.

I live in Vegas. Depending on your budget...If you're looking for an inexpensive place I suggest staying someplace off the Strip Like Sam's Town, Boulder Station, Sunset Station, Fiesta. If you want the luxury experience I would suggest Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Bellagio, Aladdin, or Paris. Play craps its the only game where the odds aren't too bad. If you play slot and video poker , stay away from touristy places and go where the locals go. (named in inexpensive list) and at 7-11's and grocery stores. If you want to play them on the strip then choose a machine close to entrance.

I have been to Las Vegas. I stayed at the Riviera Hotel. It was an amazing place and I enjoyed the Celine Dion show. That was why I went to Las Vegas. I am not a gambler.

I make a point of going 2 to 3 times a year. Depending on how much you are willing to spend and the day of week, as well as time of year, there are plenty of nice places to stay on the strip and downtown.
Strip (vary in price):
Mandalay Bay
MGM
Aladdin
Harrah's
Mirage
Flamingo
New York New York
Venetian
Bellagio
Cesar's Palace
Treasure Island

Cheapest place I've stayed at was the Imperial, which was a clean but basic room. I've also stayed at the Luxor, Venetian and Bellagio which are all great but more expensive. So, if you fancy treating yourself I'd highly recommend Bellagio. The rooms are just fantastic.
