It does have expiration dates, but mostly for sanitary reasons. The one you really should follow, if nothing else, is expirations for eye makeup. All sorts of bacteria can get on there, and since you're putting it so close to your eyes you're risking some sort of infection.

General guidelines are:
Blush: 2 years
Concealer: 1 year
Eye pencils: 1 year
Eye shadow: 1 year
Foundation: 1 – 1 ½ years
Lip pencils: 1 year
Lipstick: 1 – 1 ½ years
Mascara: 3 – 6 MONTHS
Powder: 2 years

Eye cream: 1 year
Moisturizer: 1 – 1 ½ years

Most make-up has a longer shelf life than 6 months. The ones that are short lived should have an expiration date on them. I do know that ALL mascara should be replaced every 3 months!

it depends on what makeup you are talking about. Mascara, eyeliner last 3-6 months because they continuously get wet with eye bacterias and can cause infection if you get sick or share with someone. Foundation can last up to a year and you have to wash the sponge or brushes you use so they dont harbor germs, Lipstick can last up to 3 years if you periodically dip the tip in rubbing alcohol and let it sit for about 30 seconds to kill off any bacteria. Dry powders also last up to 3 years if you clean the brushes on a reguar basis. Your face may be clean and clear but if you put old makeup on it, the germs will infect your skin and make you breakout. so wash your brushes. But doesn't this give you an excuse to go out and buy new makeup!!??

YES!! Especially mascara. The lifespan of mascara is 3 months max!! I dont care who its by and how much it cost. After 3 months...toss it! Mostly liquid stuff expires first. Powders can last upto about a year. Hope that helps.

All skin care products have a set "shelf life", kinda like food. anything containing water or food products can grow bacteria...and make-up can too. Usually make-up will only last a year. If you keep it in the fridge it will help to prevent bacterial growth, maybe extend the life another 6 months.

Once your make-up does develop bacteria, you cannot get rid of the bacteria, and you will be applying that to your face whenever you use the make-up. Which will lead to breakouts. So you have to toss it and buy a new one.
Avoid putting your fingers anywhere near the bottle opening, and instead use a sponge, q-tip or spatula, so bacteria on your hands does not get into it.

I know you are supposed to replace your mascara every 3 months. I personally use stuff until it is gone. I dont share my makeup with anyone so that makes a difference too. I rarely use foundation so a bottle will last me at least a year, usually longer. If your make up looks weird or doesnt seem to be effective or causes you to break out etc then I would say toss it.

nooo, I don't think make up expires. I have some make up that ive had for a year and it's still good. I have tons of make up and just haven't use my blue eye liner until last week and I've had it since last December. Another thing, some make ups do mess with your skin. Like foundation can eventually be bad for it, but eyeliner and stuff is fine.

i cant tell u this absolutely 4 sure but i think its not really true you probably shouldnt believe them. makeup doesnt expire because all of them are different kinds and none of them have expiration dates on them, plus, they've never done anything bad to peoples skin before. maybe sometimes a foundation makeup clogs pores but that will happen whether its old or not and you can stop the results by giving yourself a facail. so basically the answer is no, that isnt true.

make up does go bad.

normally not eyeliner tho, cover up will get chunky or really liquidy depending on the type and change colour, same with lipstick. Mascara will clump and not go on evenly.
everything has a different amount of time to use though, I have lipglosses that have changed colour from being in the sun....and if make up is always being put in different temperatures it's not good for them.

Not a lot expire thay quickly. But people often have allergic reactions to different colored eyeliner, so it can infect your eyes. But, if you havn't used a tube a mascara for over seven months, you should'nt use it. It might expire if you havn't used it for that long, and it can make your eyes really itchy!
