Can I get reimbrsed from the insurance company?

For the past 2 years I have been paying 31.40 each month for my birth conrtol pills because my insurance supposedly didn't cover it. I recently switched my prescription over to a pharmacy closer to where I live. My co-pay is only $5. The pharmacist said that the other pharmacy must not have submitted it to my insurance company so that is why I have been paying out of pocket for it.They had my insurance info because I had other prescriptions filled there before. I am so annoyed right now because over the course of 2 years I have paid around $750 when I should have only had to pay $120, Can I be reimbursed for this?

You might be able to. Here's what I would do.

1. Gather all your receipts. If you don't have the actual receipts.. well.. your scewed and might as well stop here. However, there is the possiblity that the old pharmacy has your perscriptions on file and they may be able to provide you with a print out of your purchases.
2. I really don't think the Pharmacy will be willing to reimburse you.. but the insurance company might. Copy all the receipts, write a letter and fill out your Insurance companies claim form.
3. Send it all in and cross your fingers.

Most insurance companies say all claims must be submitted within one year of service. Those prescriptions filled within one year should be honored by your insurance. The prescriptions filled more than year from the date are not going to be covered. Birth control pills are almost always covered by insurance.
Call your insurance company and call your old pharmacy, and see what happens.

Contact your insurance company and find out for sure if they ever recieved claims for the bc in the past 2 yrs. If not, then ask them if they would reimburse you. I doubt it though. Then ask for a print out of all your claims in the past 2 yrs then complain to the management of the pharmacy youve been going to. If need be, you may need to file a small claims suit.
