My husband is a very picky sleeper. He says he can't sleep in the bed with me because sometimes I snore and/or I move around too much. When it is not me, his reason is our dog is too difficult to move when he's asleep. So he goes and sleeps on the couch. Other than this, we have an excellent marriage (both physically and emotionally). Sometimes, I'll sleep on the couch so he can get the bed. Should we just get a bigger apartment so he or I can get a bed to sleep in? Comments please. Thanks.

I don't think it's bad to sleep separately some nights, but if it bothers you maybe you should eventually get a bigger place with a guest room for the difficult nights. I would get the dog a nice, cozy dog bed that he or she can go to when tired so that you won't have to attempt to move them later. Keep the dog off of your bed at all times to start this habit. You also might talk to your doctor about getting your snoring fixed. You could have sleep apnea and that can be a sign of some other health problem. If you have insurance they usually cover this type of problem. Good luck! P.S. , In response to the gentleman above's answer who said animals belong outside: if it's too cold outside for a human it's too cold outside for a dog, cat and many other animals. This is a mistake too many people make that animal protection agencies are trying to correct all of the time. Don't leave your pets out in inclimate weather!

Believe it or not, YOU have the control here, since you do all the work. My advice is to do the bare minimum. Take care of the kids first and foremost. Cook spaghetti for dinner, every night (something quick and easy). If you're too tired, don't vaccuum or clean the house. Let his laundry pile up (do the kids'). Skip the yardwork altogether, or better yet, pay a neighborhood kid to do it (and if he asks, explain, "since you won't, and I can't, I paid him). And maybe hire a cleaning or maid service to help (with the same explanation). Demonstrate to him through your actions what it takes to makes the house run, and that you can't do it alone. And when you're done and have the kids in bed, go to bed yourself. Get the rest you need. And if he doesn't get off his *** to help, then seriously consider leaving. Sounds to me like he can't function on his own, and you got it down pat!

I won't even share our marital bed with my kids, much less a dog. I don't think your hubby is having a problem with your snoring, there are things to help that. I think his issue is with the dog. So, it's your call. If you sleep in seperate beds, that will cause problems down the road. Good luck! :)

thats normal - some ppl cant sleep with anyone...maybe try to keep the dog off the bed and get some of those breathing strips to help your snoring , and a bigger bed might also help....

I know perfectly happy couples that have two bedrooms!

They visit each other for activities often, but when it comes to sleeping they do better in a bed by themselves!

Try it, might be perfect for you!
