Bascially, they have the most talented midfielders, yet they are NOT playing in the correct position, that is why they cannot give quality balls in to good strikers like Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch and Michael Owen. I think England needs to mix it up, STOP filtering regular players on the team! Put talented wingers Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright-Phillips, and speedy strikers like Daren Bent, Jermaine Defoe, Andy Johnson, even Theo Walcott! England is the team with the richest home grown talent, but with the same old, same old, there is not point in scoring!

Practice shooting while on the move, rarely do you have the chance for a shot that is not on the move. Also practice with defenders in the way. a great game to work on scoring is world cup. its fun, simple, and it makes you work on creating space for a shot. If you cant create space for a shot than it will be blocked or you will never get it off in the first place. Also work on your first touch. It is very important that when you recieve the ball you can get a shot off as quickly as possible. If u are able to watch video of your self and see how many touches you take before you shoot that would be great. a good goal is to cut that number in half and keep the shot on target with pace. also work on what foot you recieve the ball with and if you recieve with the inisde of the foot or outside. Watching video is the best way to observe this in yourself. good luck!

If your son wants to score more goals for his team, he needs to have good footballing skills so that when the ball comes to him, he is able to control the ball, even under pressure. He needs to be strong and fearless, be prepared to put his body on the line to get that decisive touch which sends the ball into the opposition goal. He needs to have good movement, to always be on the move and not allow himself to be an easy target for opposition defenders to mark. He needs to be in the right position at the right time, so he needs to be aware of everything else that is going on the pitch, and of course, make sure his team-mates know what runs he is likely to be making so that they can put the ball where he needs them to put it.

And all of this comes with practise, practise, practise!

You usually find that the top goal scorers are the ones who have the most attempts, stands to reason. So be greedy and don't pass if you think you have even a slight possibility. Note - this is not a popularity contest ask Rude Van what’s his name.

all he can do is practise but scoring goals is not really taught its in you, tell him it dosent really matter how many goals he scores ,making them and playing well and keeping a clean sheet is just as important./

Practice,Practice,Practice.Practice your ball handling skills as well as your kicking accuracy.Make your self as open as possible without being offside, and if you know you can make a shot, take it,dont pass it off,be confident, and you'll shoot and score.
