Very Bad Things Stripper

It's just the name and reputation. "Hooters" after all is named after a girl's boobies right? lol. Anybody that has never been there thinks its a strip joint or something too racy but it's not. A little racy yes but not more racy then going to a rated R movie. There's no nudity in Hooters, rated R movies, YES. I bet most people that protest against Hooters would watch such a movie and have no problem with it. There are only a couple of things that don't sit too well with me though. One, is they need to change those uniforms. The 1975 orange silk shorts do not look good on some girls. They need to toss tradition out and get something new that looks hot. Keep the colors if you want tradition but change the Saturday Night Fever/Roller Boogie theme.

Well, it is a trashy image, anytime you are using sex to sell something it's pretty trashy. Let's face it-- shortie shorts and tight tanks overflowing with cleavage to attract people to dine in your chicken-and-beer joint and get better tips is just not a classy thing. But sure, people have a right to be trashy if they want. They can make a perfectly respectable career out of being trashy or sleezy. It doesn't make you a bad person and it's not against the law. I do not care if my husband goes there with his buddies. But the thing that I find insultiing is the attempt to market the place as a family place, to deny that a place named after a slang term for women's breasts and featuring scantily clad women in a trashy outfit is selling sex. If I opened a place called "Meat Balls" and featured young college guys in tight spandex pants showing off pecks and bulges and butts, come on... be honest... men are not going to want to flock there, parents are not going to want to bring their kids there. And while I might enjoy the place, I wouldn't blame them and try to convince them that this is a nice family place. The image is just not appropriate for kids, who we don't need to expose to blatent sexual marketing like that, and it is certainly not going to be everyone's cup of tea. I have no hang ups about nudity, I have nude artwork I drew myself hanging in my home on display and have taken my kids to many a museum with nude statues or let them watch brilliant films or plays with nude scenes... that's not an issue. But just like there is a difference between fine prime rib and a Big Mac, there is a difference between classy/artistic and trashy/gimmicky. If you want to make a living at trashy/gimmicky, at least admit that's what it is, don't try to pass it off as something else.
