I've done both. I would say waitressing probably sucks more but is better money. Either one you are dealing with rude customers at times. Cashiering is a bit more boring because you are standing waiting for customers and in waitressing you're on the go constantly.. Waitressing is more work.

I was a cashier at a grocery store loved it. I am going to have to go with waitress as the worst. You are having to fetch what people want. Take care of lots of tables at a time. People come in and have a huge bill and then leave you no tip or $2.00 for a $50.00 check. You have to clean up their dirty nasty tables. The only good thing about being a waitress is asking someone "How is everything" when their mouth is full.

well it dpeneds, on your work ethics, are you lazy and not wanting to move around much? or are you a hard worker, and don't mind a some walking sometimes running around?
Cashiers, don't make much money, mostly probably minimum wage, unless u are there for a while. Waitress' can make good money, if they are good at what they do and are friendly. think about it, 5-10 tips on each table you serve, you service about 20 tables in a shift? thats an extra 100-200 a night. That doesn't include if there is a bar in the restraunt, because that helps out of tips as well!

With school and two jobs you may be stretching yourself too thing. You may want to look into contacting Staffing Agencies in your area to help your search. Omega, Manpower. Addecco are a few to get you started. I think what you need is a higher paying position. How long have you worked at the grocery store? If it's been a couple years and your manager knows you, you may be eligible for a promotion. I know that stockers sometimes make more money than cashiers. However, if you've worked for a while, proven yourself, go talk to your boss about your situation. Obviously you have a strong work ethic if you are considering working a 3rd job while going to school. Let your boss know you are working two jobs, taking online classes, but having trouble paying the bills. Everyone has been in tough situations like that, and he/she will understand.

Depends on where you wait tables, since most groceries are chains.
You make more money if you wait upper class places, but you have not necessarily work harder than a lower scale place, but be happier and pay attention to details.
I've cashiered and it is rarely difficult, although the pay is poor.
Are you motivated? The cashier job would be worse.
Are you not really? The waitress job would be worse.

Waitresses do alot of walking in a day's time. They receive a base pay and tips. Much depends on where one works.
A cashier sits and sits and sits! No exercise. Usually receives minimum wage. Much responsibility because collecting $$$ is the core of any business!
That's it: Make your choice! It all depends what you LIKE to do!

Waiters/Waitress' generally earn tips. I know in my home town of chico (a college town) that tips are highly sought after. So cashier is "worse" in regards to wages. Both jobs may involve dealing with mean people though. Either can be what you make of it.

Depends on the place. Overall, the cashier work will probably be easier, but waitressing pays better (tips).

probably a waitress because you get substandard pay and are expected to kiss peoples butts in order to nake better than minimum wage, plus people blame you for anything that is wrong with their order
depends if you are a good waitress or not

I'm a girl and I wouldn't want to be slapped in the butt or hit on by male customers so I guess waiter/waitress.
