i was at a burger joint and they were showing this cute animal animation fim that looks very familar. it was about a lion, a hippo, a giraffe and other animals in a new york city subway station, and then they were at grand central station and dancing and stuff. i am sure that this is a fairly new movie.

It's not Disney or Pixar as another anwerer said. It is most likely Madagascar, though I didn't see the Wild and it had a very similar theme to it. The 3 animals you mention are definitely the main characters in Madagascar. the Wild looks like it is a lion, giraffe, and koala.
Madagascar is a wonderful movie!!

It is a Disney/Pixar film. It's Madagascar. It's very cute. David Schwimmer did the voice of the lion, Chris Rock did the voice of the zebra, Jada Pinkett-Smith was the voice of the hippo.
