Yes I have noticed that too. I don't think that being very thin looks that great. I feel bad for Nicole Richie. I think that your average everyday women are the most beautiful. Why do people think that women should spend all of their time working on their outside appearances? We and our younger generations should focus on education and personality. You can't get everywhere with just looks alone. And as far as I'm concerned these women and young girls who strive to look perfect sometimes think they are perfect just because they look pleasing to the eye, but what a lot of them, and society in general, seem to be lacking is inner confidence, generosity, and manners.
Here is a link to my favorite portrayal of real women's beauty, and also an interesting article.

Who told you that's the image of a perfect woman? Don't be bought over by the lie. I think the problem stems from a few people in Paris and Milan that make designer clothes. Skinnier women walk more elegantly because fat doesn't disturb or slow down their movement. The second reason is that skinnier women tend to be "free girls"...(excuse the euphemism), single and ready for cash to be lavished on from the pockets of some stinking rich tycoon who hasn't slept in his house for two months. On the other hand, more averagely built young women tend to be responsibly married and/or chasing a career of repute. They don't have crazy rich people fighting to spend wild sums of money on them. So, the little commonsense is that advertisers, I mean the brains in the designer shops target the image of women on whom men are likely to spend more money. Then the image of such girls are immortalised on all glossy mags around the world and on TV screens and our girls are brainwashed. All things said, I think the perfect young woman should look like the tennis stars; Venus, Serena, Martina Hingis, Navratilova, Mary Pierce and co. They have great legs, well rounded, healthy builds and strong muscles. Anything less than that is ugly. For all the hype about skinny women, none of them can ever stand the beauty that was Dorothy Dandridge (or even Marilyn Monroe). And she far from skinny.

Yes - I think it is VERY damaging all of the junk we feed our kids about body image -- i think it is seen as beautiful because we are told by the world (media) that is it -- i think families should focus on healthy role models --- like even in TV shows from the 50's the women were never below a size 10 - and they were beautiful...I would say the real image should be a a healthy person - not under or over weight but just 'normal' ---but it is hard to say because everyone is different heights and what not - i think that everyone should be considered beautiful - for who they are - not what they look like or what size they wear!

It's not like this all over the world, in fact. Not even in all all American cultures. African American women who are more voluptuous are considered better looking withing their own community than thin women. In European countries, your right about the 'ideal woman' being young and thin. But, I don't think this is what turns men on. They like the soft curves of a womans body. The women who make money on the runways and covers of magazines look very different than the women who work at gentlemens clubs and nude bars and make GREAT money based on their ability to excite and tantalize men with their bodies. You rarely see a super thin woman who makes good money in these clubs, even the ones with large implants. Men are attracted to a healthy look, even if the woman is more mature looking or has a smaller chest. ( I worked for several years in a full nude bar, so I have seen this first hand). It's too bad that so many girls and women suffer from eating disorders in order to look like something that isn't attractive to the majority of the opposite sex.If it's about being attractive, what photographs well and what looks good in real life is so far apart that it's unreal. It's really sad.

Since your asking about the physical I truly believe the perfect woman depends on YOUR own perception to be honest. As a woman myself I find the perfect woman no matter what she looks like will carry herself with class, confidence and style. On that note here are some examples I came up with. Julia Roberts Ashlee Judd, All three Dixie Chicks, Oprah, Tyra Banks. Basically, kind, classy woman are perfect. As far a those like Paris and Nicole....I believe it is just a 'look' for a short time. Yes it is very unhealthy, and even a bit nasty, but just like any other fad...this will go away then come back. If you are overweight I think before you decide to lose make sure it is for the right reasons and find out why you started gaining in the first place. I am 30 next year and am very greatful that I look 24 and weigh 110lbs,,,but like my husband says he wouldn't be with me if he didn't like who I am...trust me he is very honest. When we see a good looking woman she better be nice smart and classy because he wouldn't find her attractive longer than a glance other wise. Hope this helps.

There is no perfect woman. There is no perfect human. All species are flawed. So if one is to conjure up an image of someone perfect, each person would have their own description. Media, society, designers, might try to sway opinions to their image, but that doesn't mean it is the "right' image or the "perfect" image. Each person should measure themselves by their own potential instead of by the measuring stick of narrow minded, shallow-headed people.

the skinny ones are hollywood images of who we should look like. A real woman has compassion, strength, wisdom, power, charm, grace. She doesn't depend on the image in a mirror to show her beauty. She is too busy bending to help others, straining her back muscles, and using her brain power to bother with the foolishness of cosmetic beauty. Beauty is something that shines from deep within you. And if you are a strong woman with wisdom, your beauty is glowing.

In my opinion a perfect woman is NOT skinny. Last time I checked, curvaceous was still in style and I don't think it will ever go out of style. I LIKE curves. Skinny is SO gay.
