What he did was pretty insane, but they DID start it. And don't forget, they were also calling him a "Cracker", "Honky" and "White trash". They're as bad as he is.

If you have seen the actual incident, you would understand that all Michael was doing was giving them an example of how it feels to be heckled. After he made the comment, he said "How does that make you feel?" Why is it always ok for some races to get special privileges and others none? I say, let the whole incident go. I am sorry it was aimed at one particular race.
Bear in mind, this is how things get totally out of control. I don't like racism as you can tell by my profile. I just believe this whole incident has been blown up way too much. No, He should not pay.

I think it's absurd. Our society is entirely too litigious. Besides, while I would not have taken Richard's tack on this, it seems to be in direct opposition to the basis of free speech. I've seen too many comedy shows with Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle to think there is anything genuinely harmful in the use of the term involved.

No there should not be any monetary gain for the hecklers. A face to face apology should be sufficient. I do not agree w/what Michael Richards did, but what happened to common curtesy? If you don't like the show.......LEAVE!

No, absolutely not! I certainly think he should apologize, what he said was awful. However, people are so darn greedy some will do anything to get money, that makes me sick.

I think the apology is appropriate. The idea that he should give them money is completely ridiculous.

Hell no, and I can say that being an African-American. They were wrong for interrupting his show and he was wrong for his actions. Yeah he was wayyyy out of line, but people have to look at both sides. I'm not defending him, I'm just saying no they shouldn't get paid.

No. Saying mean things to someone does not mean you have to give them money!
