If you don't have kids, what would you like to pass on?

I call it the "Santa Claus Tradition". I experienced that in my childhood years and I passed it on to my 3 children, all grown up now, and have families of their own. They have passed it on to their children (my grandkids) as well.

It goes like this: I buy gift items for each child, wrap them, hide them where they couldnt find them, and put it inside or beside their Christmas stockings on Christmas eve. I usually wake the children right after I've finished my Santa tasks, and tell them that Santa had left, stayed long enough to deliver their presents. The real fun for me is watching them excitedly opening their presents, from Santa Claus. The kids usually bought it or believed the idea, until they were told in school that the real Santas were the parents.

What a exciting question. properly my husband and that i have for sure mixed our households traditions. So we plan on doing this stuff with our childrens. Christmas eve i'm many times off, and that i'm in my occupation now so odds are it is going to stay this way. I do baking a touch Christmas Eve and make supper, purely meat pies and residential fries, with salad. Then after Dinner we bypass out and inspect Christmas lights fixtures. We come abode & have warm Chocolate. frequently my husband and that i watch it really is a magnificent existence, i do not recognize if i might want to attempt this with my childrens, to positioned on them out so that they might sleep in, or if it would want to be an pretty undesirable idea because then that they'd get no sleep and be cranky all Christmas day. Christmas day we do a huge breakfast, then open presents, and spend the day jointly. we've a huge turkey dinner that evening too

We wish a "Christmas Eve Gift" which has been passed down for over 100 years. We go to see the Christmas lights throughout the tourist area on Christmas Eve. We open presents, one each on Christmas Eve. We passed that to our children and now our Grandkid enjoys.

We go out and look at lights, at least a few times throughout the season, always to a different area each time. We all wear our pj's, bring some blankets and a big thermos of hot cocoa. My daughter just loves it, as I did when I was her age. She likes the "cozy" feeling in the car. She says that seeing the lights puts that cozy feeling into her heart too.
Another thing we do is make a new holiday treat everyyear. Last year we did chocolate peppermint bark. This year she wants to make fudge and sweet wontons.... wonton wrappers stuffed with brown sugar, nuts and butter.
The best part of Christmas for me is seeing it through my daughters eyes....

We ride around and look at lights. We leave cookies & milk for Santa (each child has a heirloom set). We open a gift on Christmas Eve.
At my family party, we read the Christmas story from the Bible. We hear the story of the candy cane. We have a birthday cake for baby Jesus.

No kids for me, but I take my nieces and nephews to the beach on Christmas afternoon to build sand castles. I used to go with my parents after we moved to LA and I didn't get to build snowmen anymore.

I think my sisters are just glad to get their kids out of the house so they can get dinner on without all the distraction.

after we opened the presents Mom always read the Story of The First Christmas before we ate, just to remind us of " the reason for the season. "

We make sure to drag the gift opening out as long as we can so everyone can enjoy looking at what everyone got. It allows us to take pictures and enjoy the surprises and joy of the day.
