I was a cashier at Wal-Mart for five months (short time for me--I tend to stick with whatever I do until I can't stand it anymore). I was never so consistently treated like crap by everyone around me, and this includes the restaurant job I had where I had a woman verbally abuse me.

I got a job as a hostess, now everyone knows what a hostess does right like you just do seating arrangements and get people settled in the restaurant. Well this place's idea of hostess was busboy. Nevermind getting a girl to lift like 50 pound crates of plates and glasses and stuff all night long. Ew I quit the first day. And the people were like really mean and catty they just left me sitting there alone not knowing where to go or what to do. Horrible!

Detasseling (picking the tassels off the corn in the summer). In the morning, it gets really wet and nasty. You start at 5 or 6 in the morning, then stay until sometime in the afternoon walking through row after row in a cornfield.

I worked as a "Clerk" at a UPS store...People always assumed this meant I received those same great benefits as someone working FOR UPS..WRONG. It was either dead or asbsolutely non-stop. you should have seen the things people shiped. In the winters we had hunters shipping meat, it was basically dead dismembered animal parts they would bring in trashbags wanting us to "box and ship." Once someone shipping a dead womens belongs from her "estate" across the country..It literally took us 4 days, 8 hours a day to bubble wrap this womens life..CHINA, and more trinkets and junk then I have seen in a lifetime!

Work @ Guardian Fiberglass...It was the worst 2 months of my life...that crap never comes out of your clothes and skin...I would come home every night...12 hour shift of non-stop production where the conveyor belts are going so fast that your head spins...and I would smell so bad...the insulation in my skin would itch and burn, I would take duct tape in long strips and put it on my arms and rip it off backwards to pull the glass out of my skin...It was hell and they treat their production like crap.worst job ever...

A summer job back home in Ireland in 1954: In a butcher's shop, including the Slaughter House. What I saw turned me against most meat products for a year or so.................. disgusting.......
However, it helped me in later life when I had to attend many Autopsy examinations - but this time it was not animals, it was dead human beings.................. twice as disgusting........
