every year the draft experts make their mock drafts and rank the top nfl prospects but almost never come up with the right reasons why a player will never be good or great in the nfl. They said barry sanders was two small, marcus allen would never run for over 600 yards in a season, jerry rice was too slow, marques colston isnt quick enough, steve smith isnt tall enough, dan marino fizzled his senior year in college.........Gee and if you lived in texas and watched UT play over the last 3-4 years and in high school you would know he's the closest thing to a perfect passer as you WILL EVER SEE.. he is very mobile, has running instincts (also makes people look silly in the open field) unbelieveable accuracy and also has the quick realease...But the scouts didnt care he ran a spread offense and he wil need to learn on the bench for two years if hes going to be average...They got it wrong, look at what hes done so early in his career with a teribble team.

I don't know where the draft experts were so wrong. Vince Young was projected to be either the 1st second or third QB taken in every mock draft I saw. I think it is a good idea for evey young QB to sit for a couple of seasons to get acclimated. Some teams just don't have that luxury. I think Phillip Rivers is an excellent example of what a quarterback can do with a couple of years to mature. Perhaps these players who were too small or too slow should be seen as examples of a persons success and not the failure of draft experts. Vince Young has a pedestrian 63.9 QB rating and has thrown as many INTs as touchdowns. Then take Tony Romo who sat for a couple years and his passer rating is tops in the league. I'll give you that Vince Young is a good runner, but we'll see how long he can keep that up before the injury bug hits him. He would have been sacked for a big loss in that Giants game if Umenyiora and the rest of the leagues defensive players weren't so afraid of getting a roughing the passer penalty. Meanwhile the Titans are 9th in the league in rushing and 5th worst in the league in passing. Seems to me like Vince Young is getting some help. He is a good player and a lot of people thought he would be. But he is far from being a 1st class NFL quarterback. That's not to say that he never will be, because I believe he will.
