because tensions are rising in the UK at the moment. I find it offensive for women to wear veils, we dont live in the stoneage anymore. women in this country have the same rights and opportunities as men and should not be treated like submissive mistresses who should not be seen or touched by any other men. One preacher recently said "if you leave meat out in the street who is to blame" So women are pieces of meat now are they? The simple fact is most Britons are tolerable of other religions. What we are not tolerable with is complete segregation and lack of want to intergrate into our society or way of living. If a woman went to Saudia Arabia in a mini skirt imagine the outcry! If I went to another country to live I would try and intergrate as much as possible. We are a christian country and this should be respected, just like other religions are respected and given freedom. The fact is I do not want my children in the future being taught in school by someone in disguise, provinding complete hipocracy in teaching equal rights at the same time.

I am not from the UK ,I am an American and have the right of freedom of religion and I believe I have the right of freedom from religion. I was raised a catholic and always saw the Nuns wearing their religious garb and I never liked that . Now they have taken to barring their heads and dressing in casual clothing in public. the religious garb is outdated and I feel the Muslin tradition of women waring vials is the same. I feel the same way about any religion that feels the need to push their beliefs on everyone else

I dont have a problem with muslim women wearing veils just have a problem with them educating our kids with them on, there is a time and a place for everything including religion and certain jobs you need to show facial expressions.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I just wish it could be looked at a little more dispassionately (like THAT'S going to happen). If it's an issue that people can't see your face - like the classroom assistant - then that's a problem about getting your personality, ideas etc. across to other people - it's got NOTHING to do with religion. In that instance the lady said she would remove the veil if no male colleagues were present - where's the problem with that then? Seems all the 5 year olds weren't just in the class.

Yes, it's terrorist paranoia and it's not going to get better with Muslim leaders and Muslim people with loud voices getting their back's up immediately and declaring it's a racist attack. As ever, the quiet ones are drowned out - so an anonymous message board may be one of the best places for them to be heard.

Yes, they probably do feel threatened (I would in their place) but I think we all grew out of playground posturing a few years back - we have the brains that whatever god you believe in, or nature, gave us - please use them for once and stop just using the hindbrain..... Is the media listening? Are you out there people?

So what if there are 'more of them around' - hasn't Britain always been forged from immigrants. I don't know how far back I could trace my ancestry but I bet they came from Germany, or Scaninavia, or France - so it was a thousand years ago. In another thousand years who teh hell is going to worry that they had Muslim great-great-great-etc. grandparents.

A plea for reasonableness? Certainly a plea for intelligence.

I Totally agree with that...people need to jus deal with it seriously. Theres more goin on in the world than with what women or men decide to wear. Its discrimination of freedom of expression. I mean i hate the way people hardly wear any clothes these days or they have some wierdass way of dressing yet you jus accept it and move on cos thats who they are.

because 20 years ago, muslims were not blowing up innocent brit's and amercians i might add, what do you expect, you all say you hate the west and the way we live but then you come and stay here and scrounge from our government, and we have allowed you people stay here in relative peace, but muslims have abused that, its your own faults
