do you have speakers? if so, go into your settings and make sure the volume is up on your computer. if it still doesn't work then you probably don't have a sound card. you may here the little beeps and sounds that your computer makes but that is different from listening to music or the sound from a movie.

To get sound you will need 4 things :-
1. A computer
2. Some speakers
3. A sound card (may already be onboard i.e came with your computer .. most do these days)
4. Ears
The easiest way to find out if you have a soundcard is to look on the back of your computer for somewhere to plug speakers in .. it is likely that these will be color codec blue or green.

What is the problem? To have sound you need a sound card and speakers. If you have both of those try updating your drivers.

Goto control panel and then click sound. Make sure mute is not checked. I assume you have speakers. Switch them on too.
