Why do people date other people from different cultures if they have to marry someone from their culture? (For example have tons of India guy friends that date American girls but say they will end up or do end up marrying an Indian girl. They say it's a cultural thing)

I'm American and dated an Indonesian girl, ended up marrying her. We've been married for 1 1/2 years now and are just as happy.

Well usually it's cause the parents want them to. Like most of the Indian/Pakis have arranged marriages. One of my friends can only marry a person from her culture cuz its part of the law.

Because they culture doesnt matter to them but their parents... and they are probably living out their parents wishes rather than theirs... i know that is the case with a lot of people. In my family most of my family would get upset if anyone of their kids married some that is black, but my cousins themselves dont care about culture!

Because they see the Americans girls as a bit of fun and an easy lay, while women of their own culture as wife material.

What? The difference would be the person American that does not make her less of an Indian person her color or ethnicity does not change. She just lives in a different country.

My parents always prefered for me to marry inside of my race, but turns out, my fiancee is Hispanic.
My parents don't care who I marry anymore as long as their little girl is happy........besides, isn't that what it's all about? Being happy?
