I would vote for Condi. Even though she hasn't yet expressed views on many issues important to conservatives, she has demonstrated that she knows what is at stake in the war on terror, and would pursue a course that would keep America on the offense. And that is the most important issue today, outshadowing all others. And I would have no problem voting for any African American if he/she were a conservative. You see, unlike the libs, we conservatives look at the person as an free-thinking individual, not as a block-group to be exploited, manipulated, and used.
Other A-As I would vote for:

Michael Steele
Clarence Thomas (except he is more valuable as a SC Justice)
JC Watts
Walter Williams
Thomas Sowell
Alan Keyes

Blacks I would NEVER vote for - Powell (RINO) or Obama (socialist pretending to be moderate)

First of all racism has never ended. It is still very much alive. If you do not believe me try walking down the streets behind a black person and just watch and listen to how others react.
Watch the eyes, hear the whispers, see what people do.
Try being a multiracial child and being told you are not good enough, that you do not belong, that your skin is too dark or too light. Try finding yourself then and fit in. Racism exists in all communities not just the white community.
I know this is a little off subject but my boyfriend is a black man. He is very well educated and very well spoken. I had a friend of mine say to me the other day-Well you know your boyfriend thinks he is white. Why is it that people that claim they are not racist can make comments like that? Why can a black man not be well spoken and take care of himself without being called white? My response? I said no he knows he is black-every day when he has to deal with ignorant comments like that he very much remembers he is black.
Ok back to the topic...
I think someday we may have a black president. Any time in the near future? I do not think so...
Not just because of racism but because people are afraid to do new things. And also because too many people are too set in their ways.
The best person doesnt always win either...

I think americans would vote for the right black man. Not an Al Sharpton, I wouldn't even vote for al sharpton. I think that if Barack Obama ran for president he would have a good chance at winning. I think americans are open to a change. Maybe not a radical change as a pro-black, everything blac, lets boycott cuz we are black president, but an all around likeable black man who is not only for his people but all people. It sounds possible. I would like to see it personally. Maybe even a female president. Just something new so that america could get a breath of fresh air.

I would vot for an African American for president in a hot second if they were a GOOD presidential candidate. I'd be happy to vote for ANY good presidential candidate.

I think, you will find, that even the "Red States" would vote for an African American if they would push the Republican ticket. Red and Blue have become the important colors - not skin color.

I would immediately vote for a black president. A black president would have very little pitty for those who would use their skin as an excuse for a handout you would see a black president tell the black ghetto communities to "grow up" and get on with the future

a black president would be bad for the democrats as there would be more talk of abolishing affirmitive action and race-based social programs

theres nothing a democrat hates more than a black person of stature and intellect.

I think Condi Rice would be a great candidate.
I think a die hard race baiter runs like a Jackson, too many people would be turned off by his agendas.

Obama, perhaps, but he has yet to prove himself. He has only sponsored one bill and it was some irrelevant thing.

It is interesting to note that the Republican party has put black people into higher positions of authority than the democrats.
Clarence Thomas -first blakc supreme court justice
Colin powell- sec of state
Condi Rice - sec of state -also a woman

Of course any time a black person is a republican many people consider them no longer black. They are uncle toms.

If the black candidate had more to offer, I would definitely pick him or her, but if it's Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, AH HELLZ NAW!

Colin Powell could've made president, but I think he was afraid of assasination.

I'm sh*tting bricks right now, because I might have to choose between Hilary and Rudy in 2008. I'm not a Republican, but Rudy is the man!

Very doubtful. Colin Powell is the only viable candidate that could make it. The rest are just shining us on. Most people won't vote for one. The prejudices of blacks against whites & visa vera. Until this is bridged its not likely to happen.

Honestly, I do not think they would and I really don't know why, I just don't think Americans would vote for an African American candidate or a Mexican candidate for that fact.

I think it is very possible for that to happen. The racist people are dying out and the younger generation is taking to the polls and dont seem to care much about race. Barack Obama who isnt black but mixed may run and i think he has a fair chance.... but certainly in 10-20 years with the even younger generation i think its very possible! great question
