I went out to dinner w/ New Found Glory before they were real popular. My friend was friends w/ them from when she lived in Coral Springs, so we all went out to Denny's in Jacksonville, FL after they opened up for Face To Face. I also used to go to church w/ the singer of Yellowcard, and my band in high school played a show w/ their original lineup once. I briefly met the singer of Lifehouse while they were in the studio recording an album. I had a couple of classes in college w/ the touring bass player of The Fray, the rest of the band went to the same school, but I didn't have any classes w/ them. I went to high school w/ two members of Whole Wheat Bread (they're not really famous...yet.)

When I was 10 years old, I met "the Godfather of Soul," James Brown. It was also the first time in my life I had ever seen a limousine. It was at the old Gator Bowl stadium in Jacksonville a few hours before the annual Georgia/Florida football game. James Brown's limo was parked beneath the stands as he was to perform the song he had written for his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. The fans were not yet being admitted, but since my dad was with the Athletic Department, we got into the stadium early. My mom allowed my brothers and me to go meet him, since he was standing outside his limo and signing autographs. Although I only had the barest of knowledge at that time of who he was, I knew he was famous. He spoke kindly to us, and autographed the front of my football program. I remember walking away feeling giddy about actually meeting a famous person and seeing a real-life limousine. I still have that autographed program today. What's even better is that the program's front cover is a specially-made illustration by Jack Davis (of Mad magazine fame, among many others). Meeting James Brown is one of my favorite childhood memories.

Well, I'm showing my age here, but this is an interesting story. There was a band who was REALLY popular in the 90's called Warrant. The lead singer married a model from my home town. Anyway, I was a cashier at Winn Dixie, and I was scanning groceries when I scanned a METAL magazine with a picture of the lead singer Janie (that was his name- pronounced Johnny) on the front of it. I started going on and on to my bag-boy about how hot Janie was when I realized with dismay that Janie was the person in my line. I started stammering "Are you... are you..." And he asked, "Janie Lang?" with a smile. I got his autograph and a story to tell for years to come.

Ozzy Osbourn before a concert in Madison Square Garden. A few of us just talked to him for about 10 minutes. He was cool.

Jonathan Edwards.
Last easter. I tried to be cool but ended up all gushy.
So embarrassing.
Still he is the reigning world triple jump record holder, so I guess gushy is sort of OK.

I mean it's a real achievement he's not just a CELEB.

I met Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton from U2. They were really nice and polite.
Bono looks like he comes from another planet.
I also met a woman running for Congress in my district, she lost...no big deal really I guess. And I didn't vote for her.

Many years ago at a punk concert I saw Captain Sensible proping up the bar. We chatted briefly and he shook my hand when I told him he was better looking than Rat Scabies and he said "thank you very much" and then we went our seperate ways.
