1) The hormone is growth hormone (GH) , pressure in the head is caused by increased skull thickness, which is a result of the pituitary tumor secreating too much GH. The visual disturbances are caused by the enlarged pituitary (from the tumor) compressing the optic chiasm.
2) So hypothalymus hormones can go directly to the anterior pituitary (rapido action as dr. guru pattar says) without circulating throughout the whole body.
