I read that the movie is back on. The guy who created the show is working on the movie now. Apparently when there was talk of a movie before, Kim Catrall was not on board. That is why the idea was put on the back burner. According to In Touch all the characters are on board and the story is supposed to be focused on Carrie's wedding in which she will be marrying Mr. Big. Also, all of the characters are spread all over the country. Miranda is the only one living in New York.

Well, there's nothing on imdb.com about it, so it's doubtful. I think there was a falling out between Kim Cattrall and the producers of the show over moolah.
Here's more:
Sex and the City Movie - Forget it
A few weeks ago we posted that a Sex and the City film project could be back in the works. Yeah... well... we shouldn't hold our breath.
The good folks at The Globe and Mail did an interview with one of the stars of the show, Kim Cattrall, and some very interesting, and bitter, remarks came out. Here's a snippet of what was said:
Last year there was much talk that Cattrall was the only member of the cast who didn't want to make a Sex and the City movie, largely because she felt she wasn't getting a fair deal. She does not refute that now. "If there is a movie, it will have to be a really good script, because there hasn't been a script, and also a very fair deal for everybody. Not just" and here her eyebrow climbs as high as the Empire State Building "some people."
Speaking of "some people," what about the reports that there was a rapprochement between her and the other cast members at Sarah Jessica Parker's 40th birthday party in New York? "Believe me, I would not be at that birthday party." Well, this certainly calls for a bit more prodding.
"Look," Cattrall sighs, "we had our time together. And the real truth of it is that we weren't best friends. We were colleagues. We had a common ground and a common purpose."
Meeeoowwww! Sounds like it wasn't

Okay.... here is the scoop. Originally, the movie project was axed because Kim Catrall (may be spelling it wrong) who plays Samantha on the show refused to sign. There was brief talk of making the movie without her (perhaps that she had died from cancer or something). The whole project was cancelled. Recently, the actors and actresses were reapproached and all of them signed. The script is now being in the process of being written with characters of Samantha, Miranda, and Carrie all returning. There is no release date yet.

i hear they are working on it again! kim catrall was scutinized by ruining the first one. rumors report that she wanted more money, although er rep stated that she had "other projects". apparantly that ice princess movie was really important to her, since that is all she has appeared in since the series ended. but, now i just heard that a script has been written, and they are pitching it again.
