I really wish I had done better in grade school and high school so that I could have gone to Harvard or Yale.

Education is THE most important opportunity any one will ever have.

Change the class size from 35 to about 25. I would have a classroom assistant and a couple of 1 to 1 workers. I would get rid of the progressive teachers I suffered with in the early 80's. And I would encourage teachers into the profession who loved their job - teaching!.
I would not change any of the lessons nor the way they were taught. And Hard discipline never hurt anyone. I would do away with computers and lap-tops, and bring back pencil and paper, they never crashed or did a work check for you!.
I would bring back competitive sport, even though I suffered from asthma because the winning and losing ethos should be compulsory.
I could go on but I stick to a few minor points and let others have the chance to fill the the gaps - after all, were one big team......

I would have gotten tutoring to catch up on the math I missed when I was sick for 2 weeks. It screwed me up for the rest of my education. I really wanted to be a vet, but couldn't cut the math. Fortunately, I found a career that suited me. It didn't keep me from getting a masters degree, though! (I just picked something that didn't require math!)

In middle school, I would have tried a lot harder to get into art classes where I would have gotten better grades and a boost of morale.

In high school, I would not have taken college-prep type math classes like algebra, since I don't have much interest in college anyway. I would have taken general math all through high school, since I'm not very good at math, and made better grades. I would have tried a lot harder in my Spanish classes because it is such a valuable skill nowadays.

it's funny you should ask this in this section. I would choose different a-levels (I did maths, psychology, business studies and english) because i chose them all to keep others happy. I would also have done a different degree. I did my degree in psychology and i hate it. I'm trying to get back to uni to do interior design or architectural engineering or something. Whatever it is it will be for my interest not the appeasement of others the only thing stopping me is the cost

I would pay more attention in class, I was always being sent to the head teachers' room for bad behaviour. Life could have gone in a different direction if only I had paid more attention.

I would like to think I would have gone to University. However at that time I was shy to the point of being ridiculous, I dont know how I would have got on living away from home.

I would have gone to college. It would have given me more options & who knows what I would have been attracted to! I'm lucky that I was born with intelligence. Because of that I was able to advance quickly with the company I worked for to earn $55,000 a year but the last 10 yrs were miserable. Glad I retired!

I would stop hanging around with the 'cool' kids who don't actually achieve anything, and hang with the geeks. 20 years later it's the geeks who are having the last laugh. By working hard in school, then going on to university they opened lots of doors for themselves. The cool kids are mostly broke and stuck in dead-end jobs.

I would have studied harder and got better grades. I would have been more focused on a career path as opposed to just 'falling into' a job. I would have applied to University and gained a degree. I hope to pass on this advice to my children so that they learn from my HUGE mistake.
