How many people have to sign a petition for it to appear on a ballot?

I am talking about the political ballots of course. Whether Presidential, congressional, or local.

depends on the state or local laws. for presidential elections, it still epends on the state laws. sometimes people are on the ballot in one state but not the other.

For most things it is is 20 signaures. However, I am trying to start up a petition to have that number reduced.
