Recently, our vacuum cleaner has started producing a really musty smell every time we use it (quite reminiscent of dog, despite the fact we don't have one).

Are there any ways of getting rid of the smell from the hoover itself? We've tried changing the bag and I'm not fond of air freshners - if you ask me, they smell worse than the hoover!

arm and hammer makes a powder you can get it scented or non
scented if you dont like the perfume smell and you sprinkle it on the carpet wait 15 minutes and then vacume it up. i mention this
becuase i havent used it in a long time, and my vacume still
smells like the arm and hammer , I guess some of the powder
is trapped in the filter, but it smells nice.

With a new bag in the vaccum, cut a drier sheet "Bounce" is one I think? Into TINY pieces and vaccum it up. I've found this eliminates most odors for a couple of uses and smells fresh, not like an air freshener at all.

Alternatively, buy some cinnamon quills & place them on a tray in a hot oven for 10 minutes. The whole house will smell fabulous!

PS - Arm & Hammer baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) works well to absorb nasty odors too!

Try vacuuming up baking soda and rinsing your filters once in a while. I agree about the air freshenners.

Also, try either wiping out the dust catcher with a bit of lysol once in a while, or if you have a removable bag washing that: Another lady I used to know would do that, and she never had any strange smells where she cleaned.

Good luck!

bubbly, you have an extraordinarily much insurmountable issue. We used our vacuum cleanser to freshen up after our canines. enable me make it easier to recognize, the stench from the exhaust from that device grew to become into plenty extra advantageous than my spouse and that i could desire to stand. What did we do approximately it? We threw the factor away, and offered a clean one. that's what we did. Vacuum cleaners are actually not so costly, so we figured we could positioned the issue to kick back. Oh confident, the canines died. the two one among them. not extra canines, this I even have sworn to uphold till the day I die. My domicile not smells like the city zoo. in basic terms undo the issue. and that's despite is mandatory. Mike

They have baking soda to sprinkle on your carpet before you vacuum. They also have baking soda for pets that you sprinkle on your carpet before you vacuum. I don`t really know where the smell is coming from your vacuum. It could be up in the hose to the vaccum or the hose waned. ( the one you use to get in tight spots for small areas) check that. Put a downey sheet or bounce sheet your vacuum bag.

You can vacuum some baking soda. Also, they sell a fragrant powder that works ok. Look around the deodorizers section of the store.

Wash or change all of your filters. Another good idea is to spray febreeze on your carpet once you have finished vacuuming. I would not advice using those powered carpet deodorizers.
