It could be anything from helping someone on this site to donating money to a site or charity. :)

I've been using it since 1997, age 14. People grow up a lot between 14 and 23, and it would be interesting to see how I would have turned out, and how I would have spent the spare time created, had I never become a regular user.

I've definitely wasted a lot of time online - I could've spent the time reading books or taking up a new hobby; or at least doing something more productive online.

I've done a few good acts online - I run an internet book-shop and have sent people free books, when they're needy and deserving. Also, I've befriended people in difficult circumstances and sent them money to live off. On the other hand, I'm quite disappointed by the behaviour of even those people, and 99% of others I meet online. The Internet allows people to behave atrociously, without any consequences, usually. The sort of people a discriminating individual may want to talk to, are not the sort who inhabit the Internet (they're usually too busy working, looking after their family, and doing more productive things)!

My mum tried knitting me a better person once but it shrank in the wash.

Don't know if it's made me a better person but it's made me more knowledgeable and it's good to be able to log online and chat to someone if I'm feeling really down.

It used to be helpful as a way to relax, and something to do on the occasional evening.

Since I started using Yahoo Answers, and get unfairly reported for violations a couple of times each week, I have been become more tense and irritable. I wonder why?

Not necessarily a better person, a better informed person definitely.

I have been helped by sites on the internet which have assisted me in "bettering" myself and have also joined groups where I was able to assist someone else.

No. I have been on broadband for a year now and all it has done is to consume all my spare time, irritate me badly, make me more depressed and angry.
It is very addictive and like all addictions is very injurious to the spirit, consumes more money than is normal and winds me up a great deal.
Support group anyone?
