Im not sure about New School Punk but emo is emotional in a more depressing kind of way. emo is realizing that pain is yet another emotion but to be enjoyed. its going into a room and finding the darkest corner to sit in so the light cant touch you. its when you put a crystal coloured tear drop on your mirror of darkness... just to make you smile. but i dont know about the New School Punk. Hope I helped.
P.S. Im not emo. :)

New School Punk is just pop-rock with very small punk influences. I've never heard of "New School" before. Sounds like a made-up genre for LaunchCast. I'm assuming its bands like Brand New and maybe Anti-Flag or something. Emo is a genre which died out in the 90s. It's emotionally charged hardcore punk music. Bands like Beefeater, Rites Of Spring, I Hate Myself, & Harriet the Spy are Emo. So, there is a large difference.

well, if you really think about this, they can be two very different ideas, but they are closely interrelated. Education is the act of learning, of acquiring knowledge, whether it is done in a school setting or anywhere else. Education is adopting the ability to make judgments and reason. It is most commonly done as means of deepening one's scope of knowledge usually for the purpose developing a skill or preparing for a profession. Schooling, on the other hand, is the actual process of being taught in a school setting. This ties in with education in the sense that education is acquired through schooling. Schooling can be knowledge, training, or instructions especially when it is conducted in a classroom.

EMO is generally whiney, girly stuff typically slower tempo. You'll also hear more experimental weird guitar stuff. Another giveaway is the "Screaming background vocals."

New School Punk is way more melodic. Punk is not limited to songs about girls, I would say the biggest difference is the drums. Punk drums are way faster than emo. Check out some punk bands like Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, and Millencolin, and compare them to My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday.

Emo is more closly related to 60s and 70s folk music. John Denver's Rocky Mountain High is an Emo song. New School Punk is probably poser punk, the corporate guys that sound and look "tough," but lack the piercings, mohawks, razor blades, drug use and the desire to urinate, vomit, spit on their audience and literally beat somebody up.

I asked a similar question last week and got two answers and I still don't really know what EMO is. I will go to wikpedia to check it out! Sounds like something I probably won't like anyway!
