For number one, I want you to really think about what the question is asking. It asked about a challenge for PEOPLE in the 21st century. Can't you use process of elimination to figure that one out for yourself and make an educated guess from the given possibilities? For example, is increasing the power of the League of Nations going to be a major challenge for people?? Are PEOPLE going to be challenged by reaching the moon?? are PEOPLE going to face a major challenge regarding the design of automobiles??? Think about the wording of the question and really think about the possible answers. Which one best fits the question???

If you read the questions carefully, then the correct answers will be easy to identify.

Question 1) A - League of Nations was a failed attempt following World War 1 to form a world body. It was replaced by the United Nations following WWII. B - the population and poverty levels of third world nations is already a problem. Why would you want to increase them further? C - reaching the moon may be a challenge, but for most people it will have little impact. D - this one doesn't make any sense at all. E - CORRECT ANSWER. It is projected that the world will need more resources than it can produce by the year 2050 due to growing population and economies.

Question 2) A - the elderly are not migrating to colder climates, quite the opposite. B - Rapid increase in total population. This might sound valid, but the rate of population increase has been
higher historically. The growth to 300,000,000 has not occurred at a rate that would be considered a rapid increase. C - Increase in population of farms. No, it is quite the opposite. There is a decrease in farm population as corporate farming replaces family farms. D- CORRECT ANSWER Increase in population of urban areas. People have been moving from the rural farm areas into the cities as the farm economy shrinks. E - Migration of youth from the southwest. Think about it. Youth are moving to the southwest, not out.

I would think that E-conservation of key resources is a major challenge for people living in the 21st century.

For 1, I'd say it would be E. There isn't a leage of nations, we've already reached the moon, the 3rd world nations are already large enough population and who cares about the size/weight ratio of a car.

Don't have a clue about question 2.
