I am pretty new at snowboarding but I am pretty athletic and can go down the mountain without falling but I cant do any tricks. I would like to be able to do some jumps and rail slides and what not. Any suggestions on how to do those tricks? But what kind of board should I ask for?

If you are starting out learning jumps and rails you will not need a board to go mega fast more one that you can control easily. If you get the choice go for a freestyle board or an all montain board rather than a freeride one, you probably wont get a choice of brand but most snowboard companys arouned today are pretty good so it shouldent be a problem what make the board is so long as its a good size for you length and width wise. If you want to start learning tricks, length wise go for a board that comes slightly below your chin when stood upright against you. As far as learning the tricks just start off on the small rails and jumps and work your way up. Also try to always be positive and not hesitate when hitting a jump/ rail ie don't think of falling just go for it. Addmittedly this is alot easier said than done at times, good luck with the riding.

If you want to do rails, make sure you dull the center edges of the board. Burton is a great company, but you have to buy their bindings, so i recommend Ride. As everyone else said a shorter board is the way to go, maybe something in the timeless series or the Burton Custom(both popular for park), and a pair of soft bindings. Make sure you also get a helmet, as an instructor Ive seen too many helivacs because people were too 'cool' to lower the restraint bar on the lift or not wear a helmet. Its worth it.

Well, usually if you rent a board, you get what the shop has. You don't normally get to pick a better board and pay more for it.

I've found that most shops supply Burton boards for rent, which is the best.

If you're going to be riding mainly park stuff (rails, boxes) I'd suggest a shorter board than you normally ride. I am a 5'10, 140 lbs female. I ride a 151 cm board for park stuff and a 156 cm for powder.

there are this form of great style of great places in Utah...Alta, Snowbird, the Canyons, Solitude, Park city. in basic terms google them to discover the homestead internet site. Renting kit is rather costly, and can rup as much as $250 for a large board. carry tickets are commonly $70-ninety, yet weekdays are greater less costly. As for garments, do no longer lots decide for what's stylish, yet what's going to keep you warmth and snug. (it is your first time.) commonly apartment places for garments could be got here upon everywhere in the mountain factors, in basic terms no longer on the actual motels. Now pass shred!
