Or, if you are looking for help on a specific command, you can usually follow the command with a /? (like dir /?) and it will give you help information for that specific command.

Generally you have to type the command you need help for followed by SPACE/?, like this:

dir /?
cd /?

Or if you're in windows XP, go to help center and search for command prompt.

once you're in command promt/MSDOS... type

HELP

C:\Documents and Settings\kurmama>help /?
Provides help information for Windows XP commands.

HELP [command]

command - displays help information on that command.

You can type just HELP at the command prompt or if you need help with a specific command, like DEL (delete), type DEL /?

If you want to get helped about whole DOS Type help /?
if you want to get helped on specific command yourcommand /?
