I hope you realize that the bay of pigs fiasco was an Eisenhower administration pet project that Kennedy inherited. supposoly it was then V.P. Richard Nixon's baby. It happened just a month after Kennedy took office.

Many people will say Cuba because everything happened ON Cuba, but that's not necessarily the right answer.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a situation where nuclear missiles and silos had been detected on Cuba, placed there by the Soviet government under Nikita Khruschev. The missiles were placed there to prevent another Bay of Pigs type invasion. That is arguably the closest this world has ever come to an all-out nuclear war. It might be reasonable to say that Kennedy, after resolving matters with Khruschev, saved America and the Soviet Union as well.
