President Bush, under pressure to change direction in Iraq, said Tuesday he will not be persuaded by any calls to withdraw American troops before the country is stabilized. "There's one thing I'm not going to do, I'm not going to pull our troops off the battlefield before the mission is complete," he said in a speech setting the stage for high-stakes meetings with the Iraqi prime minister later this week.
Do you ever think there will ever be stability over in Iraq? Do you think our troops will ever come home alive? How many years do you think this is going to continue?

I am not spitting on anyone and dont attack me personally or my faith in our troops. Did I say that there will never be stability in Iraq? I did not give my opinion on the matter, I just asked a question. Thank you very much.

I don't know if we should have gone over there to begin with, but either way we can't pull out now. In two weeks the Iraqi government would be overthrown and the country would serve as a safe haven for terrorist. And one thing I try to keep in mind is that the CIA does not tell us everything, and God knows there may have been other reasons for this mess than we realize. I look forward to the next decade and seeing some of this stuff come into the public view.

The US, or any other country cannot win in Iraq. Iraq, formerly Babylon, has only been stable under an Iron fist - HISTORY! To win Iraq the US would need 3 times as many troops and since no one wants a draft and the adjusted recruiting figures will not create an all-volunteer army of that amount, the question is leave and let live or die trying?
As to the mission, the mission was completed when no WMDs were found. I thought that was the mission.

Our troops have no business whatsoever in Iraq. We should have never been there in there first place. We ain't no world police or anything and we have far more problems to solve at home than the "mission we were given by Mr Bush in Iraq " Besides our been there has given way to rise internal conflicts to the level of a civil war. What'r we going to do now that we've come to be responsible of those uncalled for killings?
I want to believe that the American people will wake up soon enough not to continue letting Mr Bush embarrassing us all

Well now, he also said Rummy would be with him till its over, so I guess that means January.
Are we even sure exactly what that mission is anymore?
There was only stability with a fascist dictator, so it doesn't look good for a kindly democratic process to suceed. The troops will come back, mostly alive, if we elect a Democrat to the presidency next time, only because a Democrat has no vested interest in continuing the war so as to protect Bush from the perception of total failure.
This is not a pretty scenario, and I hope Bush has the guts to get out before then and let his legacy be whatever it will be.

No matter if we should have moved into Iraq or not at this point. We are there, let's commit to it fully and finish it. We could speed the process up in my opinion by increasing out troops and hardware in a larger push. We can't pull back now. The effect on leaving a power vacuum would be a disaster for decades to come. Supporting the troops and supporting their mission cannot be divided for me. I'm behind it 100%.
Usama Bin Laden predicted that America doesn't have the stomach for this war and I want to prove that stinking, filthy son of a pig wrong. His comments made me feel glad we are not going to wimp out.

I'm not surprised. There won't be any stability there for a long time. Bush has 2 years to figure it out. If not, the next pres willl likely pull them out. Bush has said on at least a few occasions that the next pres will clearly have to deal with this as well.
We should NEVER have gone in to begin with.

Our troops come home alive everyday. Stability? Now that would be something - only when one of the Sect's kill off all the rest of the others. And continue? Of course it will - for years!!! Viet Nam all over again - a never ending battle that Bush had no business sticking his nose into - never mind N. Korea and Iran.

yes we will win in Iraq, but only because Bush will stick to his guns and keep the troops there until the job is done. However if a democrat wins the whitehouse in 08 we will be out of Iraq in under 2 years and the terrorists will win and then come after us here in America

When this war began, Mr Bush said on more than one occasion that this would be a long and protracted war. Where were you? Sleeping? The problem is that Americans are used to getting things done fast, but there is no "fast" solution to this. In addition to this, we no longer have the stomach for war in this country, which is going to be our eventual downfall.

If he pulls out now. It won't be too long before another S-11 happens I am sure. You can't fix a problem half way. In will just grow into a fully fledged problem again and there will be another Sadam to deal with and another war to fight.
