get as many of them as you can..
you can use them to get stuff from bug frag traders
if you decide to go to the secret area, after you beat serenade (you need all the standard chips to fight her) jack out then make your way back towards her and there will be a path to your right.
take it and you will find a bug frag trader
put 300 in it (it DOES NOT have to be all at once) and you will fight bass

bug frags are for trading things, you can trade the bug frags for things from the bug frag trader
