This question isn't about creation or evolution, just strictly the big bang theory. Hasn't it even among scientist pretty much been proven false? I have read so many things by scientist who believe in evolution, and even they say that it isn't relavant anymore. If it isn't right, then why are people still going with it? I am not trying to get people angry, honestly just looking for an answer. Even if I am wrong that is OK, that is why I am asking because I don't know. I want real answers people.

This is just for a few of the answers out there. It really doesn't matter why I am asking the question. Science is science no matter what my beliefs are. Science doesn't change according to how I FEEL about a subject, so it doesn't matter. I just wanted an answer. Thank you for all of you who answerd my question without attitude or anger, it was a sincere question that I wanted an answer to, and that means it is good enough for me to ask. I don't need any more reason than that to ask it even if some poeple think it is rediculous.

You are correct, it fell out of favor because
if it were true then all the universe would be traveling outward away from the "bang" scientists have now discovered that parts of the universe
travel in opposite directions at different speeds.

OK Hi, I'm gonna respect you and give a real answer.Disregarding Creationism or Evolution, and just considered in itself, the Big Bang Theory is still the of the ultimate beginning of the universe accepted by responsible scientists.
Evolution doesn't impinge one way or the other on the Big Bang, since evolution deals with an explanation of living organisms-----neither does Creationism in the sense the term is generally used, as an explanation of the existence of humans.
In reality, like any scientific theory, the Big Bang is only "right" as long as it provides the that explains things best, and like any other theory, it is subject to revision or abandonment at any time, if a better theory comes along. This is how Science works, as opposed to Myth, Superstition, or Religion, which all say "That's it and there's no more discussion!" Certainty is the realm of the magician and witch doctor. Being unsure is the hallmark of the scientist.

I don't know where you're getting the connection between evolution and the big bang, but the big bang theory is well-supported, even among cosmologsists - I work in this field, so I know. Sure, it's got some problems, but the overall picture of the universe, from the Cosmic Microwave Background to dark matter to the accelerating expansion all point to a beginning from a singularity, and it will take a lot of evidence otherwise (which they really don't have) to make us discard the theory.
Edit: On the whole, the universe is expanding away from us. Galaxies and clusters have some random motion, but that is not NEARLY enough to make us think that the universe didn't start at one point.
Edit: The Big Bang is VERY relavent. Again, physicist here who works in the field. We begin from the big bang assumption in all of our work. Pretty much everyone does.
Edit: Wow, ladybug. I hope your realize how very insulting that is to any scientist you may come across. But until you do, you may want to look into the big bang a bit - we have plenty of evidence. Do you? No, I didn't think so.

The Big Bang theory is still the dominant model for the development of the universe. So far, there has been no evidence to disprove it and lots of evidence that confirms it. Like any scientific theory, there will be some who support competing ideas, but those are definitely in the minority among astronomers and cosmologists.
Belief in evolution is totally irrelevant to this discussion. The Big Bang attempts to describe how the physical universe developed, starting around 13.7 billion years ago. Evolution is a biological theory that describes how life developed here on Earth over the last half billion years or so. The main connection between them is that they are two mainstream scientific theories that many religious fundamentalists reject on religious grounds.

Hi Hi ! And thanks for asking a sincere question.
I hope to give you a sincere answer. The truth is no one KNOWS.We can only postulate theories and propose beliefs.
The fact that the universe is expanding and other factors infers that there was a great explosion that set the whole thing in motion.
But new theories are being proposed all the time.A theory is only good untill a better one comes along.
We landed men on the moon six times and 30 years later there are a bunch of people that think it never happened. What I'm saying is even when things DO happen, years later
there will be those that will insist it never did.

No, it isn't pretty much wrong.
I have no idea where half of the people saying the big bang is wrong are getting their fallacies from.
If anything, WMAP basically confirmed the big bang as a scientific FACT in april of 2006 with their CMBR maps of the universe (which won the nobel prize for physics).
There is absolutely no doubt in the minds of any of the worlds physicists now that the universe is expanding, and the universe absolutely had a 'beginning' where the expansion began.

Hello,
You have asked the $64,000 question. Really it's a trick question. The genius to the BB theory is the fact that it is a theory. Websters says that a theory is:
1. a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena: Einstein's theory of relativity.
2. a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
So, without any "ACTUAL FACT" the BB is just a guess.
I like it when people talk about the known universe as still expanding. Check out the "Deep Field" project at NASA. They took the HST (Hubble Space Telescope) and looked into dark spots in space. Guess what they found. More galaxies! They dot the field in the photo...well...like stars. Check it out.

That's a good question, and I don't blame you for asking it. Some people say that it is true, but personally, I think God created the universe. Now, before everybody starts getting mad, it's just MY opinion and MY belief.
By the way, godrealized, your definition of God is pretty extreme. You don't realize God, and He is not the sum of all souls in the atmans or whatever. He is, according to the Bible, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

it depends on who u ask some people believe in the theory of the big Bang, but in most cases do to religous beliefs they would say that it is a false theory because of what the bible states! So technicaly you need to be more specific about your question... and are you asking on behalf of your religious beliefs or ru just asking?

First of all, evolution is completely different from the big bang, one is biology, one is astronomy.
I read a lot of science, and haven't read any significant number of scientists who disagree with the big bang theory. Perhaps you are reading propaganda from religious fundamentalists?

I suppose you have a better theory based on your many years of experience and astronomical observations? Yes, you are wrong and I already know that it's okay to say that you're wrong. "Real answers people"? Who do you think you are? Try asking a real question and maybe try to insert some politeness, if you know what that means.
