Hi, Im 26 weeks pregnant and have been having contractions since about 19 weeks. Last week when i went to the dr they said my cervix was soft but not dialated... does that mean i could go into labour sooner?

congrats!
no, it just means your body is getting ready for the big day....my doctor said the same thing, i went into labor 1 days after my due date!
and you must be dialated atleast to 3 or 4 to go into labor.

A soft cervix means that it is preparing to "ripen" or open up to allow for the birth of your baby. Having a soft cervix doesn't mean that your baby is going to pop out any second, it just means that your body is getting ready for the big day. Since you aren't dilated I wouldn't worry. Good luck!

It means your doctor will probably have to moniter you more closely and possibly put you on bed rest. They can give you steroid shots for the baby's lungs and try to delay labor as long as possible. Every week you stay pregnant your baby has more time to grow and develop inside you which is a good thing. Good luck.

I would take it easy and not do too much. You definitly do not want to have your baby now. Try drinking a lot of water, it helped me when I was having early contractions.

it could, but remember, people can dilate a little bit and walk around for weeks like that. Just be a little careful walking around too much and having sex

Probably not, just make sure you don't bleed or get any other abnormal discharge (like a large amount of fluid, etc)
Good luck and best wishes!! :-)

its possible that you will have the baby sooner and your doctor will probably have you on bed rest so you dont go into labor to soon
