2 Things to know...
#1 Use the Windows ADD/REMOVE programs to remove it...
Found by clicking
START>
Control Panel>
Add/Remove Programs>
AOL 9.0 or AOL EDITIONS...
#2 Make sure you dont need to save any emails or stuff that was in your AOL INBOX...
When you remove AOL it automatically places a folder on your desktop called AOL SAVED PFC FILES ( which is the folder containing your emails from AOL, so that if you want to reinstall it, you can restore your previous account info...
In other words, if you dont need to save it, just remove aol, restart, then delete the AOL SAVED PFC files folder...
!!!THATS all there is to it.

Use the uninstall in the control panel under Add/Remove programs, you could then go into windows explorer and delete the AOL subfolder which contains folders.
These are usually stored preferences, etc
then run a registry cleaner to clean up orphaned files.

click on your start menu then go to control panel, click on add/remove programmes and then find the AOL one and just click delete or remove its not that hard. We changed from AOL to the late Wanadoo and thats all we had to do then just install the new modem and user.

Easiest way is to boot from floppy, type in 'format c:' and press enter............... then re-install everything. Getting rid of AOL fully by other methods will take longer than starting from scratch

After you uninstall it from your Add and Remove programs, run a regcleaner. There will be lots of stuff left over. You can get a good one from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2048 if you are using xp. If not just google for a free one.
