i want to purchase an insulation blowing machine to blow insulation into cavity walls and roofspaces of the house

peter unless you are going to do this for a living do not buy one.... just rent one when you buy the insulation... almost every diy place that sells the bags of insulation rents the blower.... very reasonably.. although you could be real popular by buying one and then letting all your friends and neighbor borrow it when they want to blow things around !

I don't know how much they cost to buy, but surely you would be better off going to somewhere like HSS and seeing if you can hire one instead? Or getting some to do it for you, you need to drill holes in the outside wall, blow the insulation in and then plug the holes afterwards.

Unless you are going to use it everyday doing installations you would be better off renting it. If it is for one time, use the same places that sell insulation for blowing also have machines to rent or to borrow.
