There is a BIG fluoride debate out there and I just want to know who is right. My mom took fluoride when she was pregnant with me and I didn't get my first cavity until I was married (she also did the same for my brothers and they had lots of cavities as kids). With my first 2 kids I didn't take fluoride and they have had one or two cavities before the age of 6. I am now 2 months pregnant and want to know if I should take fluoride. I have heard all of the stuff about fluoride being toxic and used in rat poison, etc... I don't get fluoride in my tap water. Anyone out there take it during pregnancy with good or bad results?

Okay. My mom didnt take flouride during pregnancy, and her sister did take it. My cousins (from the mom that took the flouride) have had no problems with their teeth and they are 26 and 30 now. Me on the other hand I am 22, and I have had four root canals, three extractions, two implanted teeth, and about 17 cavities. My parents say I have a 30,000 dollar smile. And its true. I take great care of my teeth, brush constantly, gargle, floss, the whole shabang. And I still have all these problems.

I wish my mom had taken the flouride. It DOES make a difference.

Hope this helps!

well i feel that flouride really doesn't do anything. Yo probably didn't get cavities till you were married because you took good care of your teeth and maybe your brothers, not so much.
