I have one cat who loves olives and rye bread crusts...but he'll run for the hills if you have a pickle.
I have another cat who goes crazy for chick peas....and another who loves canned beets.
Funnily enough none of them seem to really care about meat or cheese.
My "pure bred big dumb dawg", of course likes anything but he absolutley loves salad fixins, especially radishes...it is all I can do to keep him off my feet when I am cutting up veggies for salad, just hoping I'll drop something.

LOL...in reading my question it actually sounds like my pets are health food nuts!
Though one cat won't leave me alone if I have McD's fries...and another goes cuckoo when we order chinese (must be all the fish sauce).

I had a cat that loved green peas. He would spear them one at a time with a claw and bring it up to his mouth to eat it.

If you are a vegetarian and are buying special food for your beasties, you are probably getting healthier, better food than is often available in the supermarket, so I personally, wouldn't worry about it being unhealthy. The only unhealthy aspect is if some of the dried food might be infested with mealy bugs or wheat moths...and then, they're not so bad -- pure protein. If people only knew what was in hot dogs -- most commercial pet food companies wouldn't put that junk in their formulas, but there it is on the supermarket shelf for human consumption -- more people would be vegetarians! As for the cravings...you might want to look at the ingredients and see if there is some element in there that you are not getting in your regular diet that is causing these cravings. I'm sure a number of people are going to think you are an odd duck, but as for unhealthy, no, especially if you are not making their food a mainstay of your diet. Besides, it adds an element of sharing and connection between you and your beasties.

Well of the weird things my dogs like I would have to say carrots, butter (stole a whole stick off the counter when I wasn't looking), sunflower seeds, plums, fish food
I think the weirdest things are actually the things they won't eat. They absolutely hate bananas, popcorn (even if it is covered in butter), anything with jalapeno flavor, pickles, green beans, cauliflower, and grapes

Only one of my three cats likes to eat turkey or chicken.
My one cat loves McD's chicken as long as it is cool. We'll bring fast food home and he's around us hoping for a handout. This same cat loves peanut butter which is funny because his name is Peanut. Also he goes nuts for green olive juice, not the olive just the juice. My other cat likes peanut butter too.

My Lab will eat anything that fits in his mouth, everything to him is yum yum. He loves green beans and carrots, and goes absolutely crazy for ice cubes. He will eat my other dogs medicine just because the other dog did not want it and eats the guniea pigs food just because the guinea pig had it and my dog thinks he should have any and every piece of food.

My cat likes to eat everything I eat...... he thinks he's a human. Whenever I'm eating something, he'll hop on my lap and try to grab my arm (the one that's holding the fork) in order to get a nibble of whatever it is I'm eating.
He even steals the neighbor dog's food from right under the dog's nose! Crazy ol' cat!

My dogs will pick tomatos from the garden and eat htem and also corn and peas. They will eat most any type of veggies or fruit.
My cat likes beef jerky.
To the person whose dog is eating onion and garlic.
These are taxoic to dogs and to much onion can kill your dog. It causes Heinz Body Anemia. The red blood cells die off very fast and your dog can not oxygenate his body tissues. It can be fatal.
You need to be very careful about onions and to some degree garlic as it is related to onions.

Our cat loves pork rinds. And the other cat liked olives and olive juice!
My former dog could eat a jr. cheeseburger from McD's. All of it, bread cheese, mustard, ketchup, onion...but after it was all gone he could spit out the pickles like he'd been just holding them in his mouth the whole time he gobbled!

My dog loves olives and bloody mary mix (the mix, not the liquor). My mom has a little poodle who will eat bread, chips and french fries, but only if they are dipped in something. She won't eat them plain.

My great aunt used to have a pekenese that would only eat canned peas and blocks of cheese. They would buy the largest block of cheese and cut her pieces off.
