My husband used to be the grumpiest old scrooge around Christmas because he said he just wished people would act like they do at this time of year all the time. During all the hustle and bustle there is just this joyous spirit. Our kids could never get him to out of bed on Christmas morning so we started doing our tree Christmas Eve, and as the boys got older we all started making a commitment to do one charitable thing before the next Christmas. We have served food at the homeless shelter, sent school supplies to underprivileged countries, made birthday gift boxes for the Family Abuse Center, collected coats for the homeless, and even cleaned roadsides. Because of my grumpy husband we have all tried to make sure we keep the Christmas Spirit of giving going throughout the year. Two of my boys became Eagle Scouts and one is now serving in the Army in Iraq. As our Christmas Present this year our oldest son has arranged for all of us to go on a family vacation together and guess where we are going? To build a Habitat for Humanity House. Yes I do love Christmas no matter when it is.

I love Christmas. Every year, I send out cards, and bake cookies with my kids, and have so much fun shopping, even for people that are hard to buy for. I also love the music, the TV shows, and the candy canes!! I got married in September, so I'm looking forward to spending my first Christmas with my new husband.

No, it's about old traditions, churchy lies, commercialism, killing trees for no good reason, and hypocrisy. According to police records and news articles it's not the nicest time of the year, but the worst on many counts: more suicides, more domestic problems, more thefts, more financial worries, more drunk drivers, etc, etc. It oughta be cancelled.
