Other than the gay part is the story interesting? Is it a good movie? Because i really like mountain movies but the gay thing is really pushing me away from watching it! I am a straight man so what do you think?
P.S: My sister rented the movie and she hasen't watched it yet so i can't ask her...

i gotta tell you, any strait man, even if your very tolerant and not a homophobe, is going to have a problem with this. all the guys in the theatre with me were visibly wincing. its extremely graphic, and the parts that aren't graphic are so boring it feels like the movie will continue going until your life ends. my suggestion? don't bother.

Brokeback Mountain is one of my absolute favorite movies. There is really only one scene that is somewhat graphic, and it is over very quickly. It is more than just a "gay cowboy" movie. It shows that you can't always choose who you love, and the pain and heartbreak that one feels when the person you love is not acceptable by society's standards. You just have to have an open mind when watching this movie. It is a beautiful, heartbreaking love story.

I think, from a cinematic standpoint, there are many elements of conflict that are tired and cliched. Within the confines of THIS movie is unique story that super-cedes the "gay part"
Lost in a large portion of reviews is the tragic characters that the women play in Brokeback Mountain. One could argue that these women are essentially ALL women: misunderstood, unloved, and pushed to the margins in a patriarchal, chauvinistic world where they will ALWAYS be second to men.
Using the relationship between Jake and Heath as a symbolic one of impossible love should allow you to see this film in a much more meaningful light. It is a love that at times is one of necessity, and at times is betrayed by the need for physical contact. But hopefully, armed with this information, you will enjoy it as I have....

I thought it was a really good movie. I mean if you are uncomfortable with the gay thing you probably shouldn't watch it since the whole movie is really about their relationship. Its not just about two gay guys making out or having sex, its about the struggle they went through since it was not tolerated back in the 60s, how they had to hide it, how it impacted their lives and its a true love story. I enjoyed it but you seem sort of uncomfortable with the concept, so you may not like it. It was still a good movie though!

i liked the movie even with the gay part. if you have a problem with gay people, then dont see this movie if you are sensitive to that type of thing. I dont think some straight men would be comfortable with watching something like that but if you do or dont, im not knocking you.

I thought it was a great movie! You have to be very open minded about gay people in order to like it. To be honest with you the story was so romantic I was able to look past the fact that it was two men who were in love.

Yes, I did not think the movie was going to be any good. It was a sad love story. I really like the movie.

I liked the movie. It is sensitively done and well acted. The guys in the movie are portrayed as just regular guys except for their gayness. I liked that the best about this movie. They were not cliches. I really felt for them as people.

I thought the movie was wonderful, but you can't really sepparate it from the gay content, so if you can't deal with that, you won't like it. There's beautiful scenery in it, but for someone who's bothered by the gay stuff, that won't be enough to save it.

I loved it. The two leads were fantastic. The gay thing was a little graphic at times but that did not bother me.
