Not necessarily black, but i'd stick with darker colors such as grey or blue out of respect unless the family spefically asks you to wear brighter colors.

No you don't. It is just tradition to do so. But if you dont want to wear black, try gray or a really dark blue.

If you're a close friend or family member, you'll probably be expected to dress darkly. I don't think there would be any real consequences to dressing otherwise--it's just what people generally do.

If you're not particularly close to the deceased, then just dressing "nice" should be sufficient.

No, any dark color is appropriate. Greys, dark blues and purples are all okay - do not wear red, white, pink, orange, pastels, etc. The dark color is to signify your sadness and loss - that is why it is tradition.

No.. But i think you do cuz if you show up in colors and stuff people will think you're disrespectful and not upset that the person died. People are sad and dressing up in bright colors and deccorated clothes might offend them.. and make them sadder..

No but a dark color (dk blue, brown) tends to be viewed as respectful to the deceased.
