Yes. If you put too much of anything into your body you can hurt yourself. You can even kill yourself by drinking too much water, although it is even rarer than copper poisoning:

Symptoms of copper poisoning include:
* Body as a whole
o Burning sensation
o Metallic taste
o Pain
o Shock
o No urine output
o Convulsions
o Fever
o Muscular aches
o Chills
o Weakness
o Anemia
* Yellow eyes
* Yellow skin
* Gastrointestinal
o Nausea and/or vomiting
o Diarrhea

Copper isn't that toxic to humans, so you would have to chow down on a lot of electrical cord to do this to yourself. It is also found in some aquarium products and vitamin/mineral supplements.

I knew a guy who was taking copper supplements because he heard it would help his hair turn back from gray to his "younger" color. He developed a very aggressive form of thyroid cancer that killed him quickly. The doctors attributed it to the copper supplementation.

yes, copper absorts though the skin when handled thats why you itch when you mess with it with no gloves, copper poioning is rare
but the worst side affects are mostly itching.
