my mum is having a baby shower soon but is it better to have it before or after the baby is born?

Congratulations!!!!!!Before....This way you can get necessities and more for your baby so you aren't scrambling last minute to your local walmart for the diaper cream....Also!!! After you give birth you are so damn tired that all you want to do is sleep and catch up on some well deserved energy...You dont want to be in a noisy environment with people handling your new little bundle...This may cause your baby to become over stimulated and can only add to a grouchy baby..hope this helps :)

Either is fine. My sister had all her baby showers after the baby was born. She didn't know the sex of the babies therefore she opted to have them after the birth of the babies. The baby was able to go to the shower too and all the women were thrilled to hold the baby and play with them. Some women prefer to have the shower before so they can get what they need before the birth.

It's better to have it whenever the parents and the host prefer. Most parents like to have the shower just a little bit before the baby is born so they have just about everything they need.
Some cultures wait until after though...so it's really up to you. If someone is throwing you a shower, you can modestly hint that it would be better to do it whichever you prefer.

I would prefer after so the new mom can enjoy herself more. Most parents get everything they need regardless of a shower. It is never wise to expect anything at a shower you really would need.
There are tons of things to buy after a baby is born as well as before.

I had my baby shower before i had my daughter. I liked it that way you recieve things before you have the baby and then you will more prepared for the new little one!! This way you don't get multiples of the same thing and then after the shower you can get other things that you didn't get at the shower.

before, so you can organize all the stuff you get from the baby shower with peace and quiet. You have a baby shower to have one last party before the baby comes into the world.

well it's best to have the baby shower when you think it is necessary, that's means maybe before or maybe after. the reason why i say that is because what if you don't no what to expect and something happens and your child can not be useful to the things that were purchased before the baby shower.
just think about it, and tell your mom to do whatever she feels.

Definitely before, so you won't have to buy anything that may be given to you as a gift. Also you can be more prepared with all the babies stuff already put in drawers and diapers are stocked up on. Also after you have the baby, you may not be in the mood or too tired to be out with the baby. I had both of mine before the baby and I greatly appreciated it!

Before, so that you know what you need if you are not presented with the item at the shower. Do you have a list ready for what you'll need & are you registered anywhere? If not, get going!!! This will make it easier when your new baby arrives if you are preparred.
