Some people do not like going to funerals so I do not think it is selfish. What I do think is you should at least pay a visit to his family to show some respect, maybe even give them a card expressing your sympathy. Driving 100 miles will show them you truly were a good friend.

Some people feel like you do send the family a card and maybe have flowers to the funeral you could always lie and say you have things to do you cant get out of.

Yes, it would be disrespectful not to go to your friends funeral. The funeral is for the living, not the dead - go and pay your respects to your friends family.

Im sorry to hear that, but you should go to the funeral because that was your friend of 26 years. Would you go to your mothers funeral? than you probably should go to your friends. Also i think the familiy would be mad if you didn't go

100 miles is not that far, maybe 90 to 100 min drive. yes the family will be upset if you don't go and yes it is disrespectful if you don't go. you should go to support the family and support them as they embrace the life that once was...

Yo! Go! just go show your face and leave. His familly will be furious if you don't go. Or call and tell them how your feeling. But don't just not show up. That's really bad.
