If you want to get lost in some books, get the Dragonriders books from Anne McCaffery. Lots of good reading in there. The Darkover books by Marion Zimmer-Bradley are great books if a little "darker".

Go to Amazon.com and search
"Lost from Atlantis Book 1" - book 2 is coming out in the next month or two, and 3 is already written and in editing.
"Death by Murder David Lindsay" - you have to search that way for it to come up. There's a lot of sex and violence in it but it's good, not gratuitous.
and "Super Spaghetti."
They're free on Amazon's Kindle Unlimited, and you can Google how to get a free trial of that. And you can get a free Kindle app for your phone or just read them online.

All the answers you've gotten are filled with wonderful books! May I recommend an author for you? Sarah Smith...she isn't well known, or doesn't seem to be, but her books are filled with surpirses! From her settings, to her characters she writes well crafted, enthralling books! Heres her website : www.sarahsmith.com
If it were me, I'd try every book recommended! Have already read many of them, and they are all good!
